Der Direktor des Jüdischen Museums Berlin, W. Michael Blumenthal, legt seine Memoiren vor, ein Zeitzeugnis ersten Ranges. Geboren in der Weimarer Republik, aufgewachsen im Dritten Reich in Berlin-Mitte, floh er mit seiner Familie vor den Nazis ans andere Ende der Welt, nach Shanghai. Von dort emigrierte er in die USA und machte Karriere in Wirtschaft und Politik, unter anderem als Berater Präsident Kennedys und als Finanzminister unter Präsident Carter. 1997 folgte er dem Ruf seiner Heimatstadt und kehrte nach Berlin zurück. Die Buchpremiere im Jüdischen Museum Berlin bildet den Auftakt einer großen Lesereise, die W. Michael Blumenthal auch zurück an seinen Geburtsort Oranienburg bringen wird.
