Die 56-jährige Wahl-Französin Weber (vgl. zuletzt "Kirio", ID-B 14/17) bewegt sich weit entfernt von den Themen des Mainstreams. Eigenwillige Charaktere bettet sie formal wie sprachlich in Geschichten, die bewusst gegen den Zeitgeschmack gebürstet sind. Jüngstes Beispiel ist der biografische, in Teilen fiktive Roman um die 1923 in der Bretagne geborene Anne Beaumanoir, eine Heldin der Résistance. Die heute 96 Jahre alte Neurophysiologin rettete 1944 Kinder vor den Nazis, war in der Algerien-Krise aktiv und musste schließlich allein nach Tunesien fliehen, um einer Verhaftung in Frankreich als Terroristin zu entgehen. Weber wählt in ihrer Annäherung an diese außergewöhnliche Frau die Form des Epos, wobei die Verse ihre lyrische Freiheit suchen und finden. Die poetisch-spielerische Sprache überzeugt als exzellentes Vehikel, um Annes Heldentum besonnen aus verschiedenen Perspektiven zu betrachten. Weber entgeht der Gefahr der Glorifizierung, indem sie der mädchenhaft naiven Menschlichkeit ihrer Protagonistin durchgängig genug Raum gewährt. Ein außergewöhnlicher Roman, gerne ab mittleren Beständen empfohlen.
