Biographisches: "Abhijit V. Banerjee, Jahrgang 1961 in Bombay, gehört zu den renommiertesten Wirtschaftswissenschaftlern der Welt. Gemeinsam mit Esther Duflo beschäftigt er sich vor allem mit neuen Wegen der Armutsbekämpfung. Er ist Professor am MIT und berät die UNO, die Weltbank und die indische Regierung. Er wurde vielfach ausgezeichnet, u. a. 2014 mit dem Bernhard-Harms-Preis des Kieler Instituts für Weltwirtschaft. Das Magazin Foreign Policy zählte ihn 2011 unter die 100 wichtigsten Denker."
