Series Statement:
Linguistik - Impulse & Tendenzen Band 94
Content:
The field of research on the evolution of human language proficiency turns out to be extremely multidisciplinary as well as methodologically and theoretically heterogeneous. This monograph pursues three relevant research objectives. Firstly, the technical and methodological basics necessary for language origin research are prepared in an introductory manner. Secondly, a catalog of methods is drawn up, which is derived from general principles of the theory of science, quality criteria of established (meta) scientific procedures as well as guidelines for good literature reception in order to present a methodical instrument for efficient handling of the relevant literature. Thirdly, the same catalog of methods is applied as an example to several areas of multidisciplinary research. This shows that positions and lines of argument that are apparently uncertain within the literature, because they are discussed contradictingly, can definitely be made comparatively clear and valid statements. This applies to both theoretical conceptualizations and empirically oriented interpretations. The analysis covers disciplines from linguistics to paleoanthropology and neurology to genetics
