Im 2. Jahrhundert n. Chr. hat der heute vor allem als Autor des Romans Der goldene Esel bekannte Philosoph das Werk frei ins Lateinische übertragen und dabei für eine römische Leserschaft angepasst. Eine deutsche Übersetzung von Apuleius' De mundo fehlte bisher. Der vorliegende Band macht nun beide Werke erstmals zweisprachig zugänglich und erschließt ihre Bedeutung für die antike Kultur
