Der Band II der «Beiträge zur Sprechwissenschaft» enthält den Neudruck des Standardwerkes «Die Behandlung gestörter S-Laute» (1955). Nach einer Einführung in die Systematik der Sigmatismen wird über unterschiedliche Behandlungsformen informiert. Schwerpunkt bildet die Analyse von 169 Therapieverläufen, durchgeführt am Institut für Sprechkunde. Im Ergebnis wird der Sigmatismus als Sprachstörung identifiziert, die weitgehend mit der Gesamtpersönlichkeit verbunden ist. Ihre Behandlung kann daher keine bloße Oberflächenkorrektur sein, sondern muss den Patienten in seiner psychophysischen Ganzheit einbeziehen. Dafür entwickelt Hans Krech seine kombiniert-psychologische Übungstherapie, die hier erstmals beschrieben wird.
