Zusammenfassung Der "poeta laureatus" Georg Sibutus wurde 1505 von Kurfürst Friedrich dem Weisen als Lektor der Humaniora an die neue Universität in Wittenberg berufen. Dort schrieb er unter anderem das Carmen de musca Chilianea ("Gedicht über die Kilianische Fliege") und das Carmen de puella ("Gedicht über ein Mädchen"), die 1507 bei Martin Landsberg in Leipzig gedruckt wurden. Diese beiden Gelegenheitsgedichte werfen ein Licht auf das Aufblühen der neulateinischen Dichtung im Wittenberg des frühen 16. Jahrhunderts. Das Carmen de musca Chilianea ist ein Scherzgedicht, das von Dürers berühmtem "Rosenkranzfest" (1506) inspiriert wurde. Das Carmen de puella ist ein erotisches Gedicht, das einen Blick hinter die Kulissen des gelehrten Wittenberg erlaubt und zeigt, wie freizügig es dort in dem humanistischen Dichterkreis zuging. Beide Gedichte werden ediert, übersetzt, kommentiert und in ihren kulturhistorischen Kontext eingeordnet. Voran geht eine Vita des Sibutus, für die neues Quellenmaterial herangezogen wurde.
