In Zeitungen, Zeitschriften, auf Plakaten, auf Gebrauchsgegenständen, auf CDs tauchen sie auf, und im Fernsehen und Kino haben sie die absolute Macht inne. Ohne Bilder läuft nichts. Was wir unsere Welt nennen, ist zum großen Teil eine bunte Bilderwelt. Doch die Bilderflut zu bewältigen haben wir nicht gelernt, und Bilder eigentlich sehen und entschlüsseln zu lernen schon gar nicht.
