"[...] Die Dokumentation rollt die Geschichte dreier von den Nazis aus jüdischen Sammlungen gestohlene Meisterwerke noch einmal auf, von der Enteignung durch die Nazis bis hin zu deren Rückgabe: "Dame in Blau vor einem Kamin" von Henri Matisse (Sammlung Paul Rosenberg), "Herbstsonne" von Egon Schiele (Sammlung Karl Grünwald) und "Der Gitarrenspieler" von Georges Braque (Sammlung Alphonse Kann). Nach dem Krieg wurde Kunstraub bei den Nürnberger Prozessen als Kriegsverbrechen gewertet. Die Dokumentation folgt den Wegen der Bilder und berichtet von der Beharrlichkeit, mit der die Erben nach den kostbaren Erinnerungsstücken aus ihrem Familienbesitz suchen. Dabei werden beide Seiten beleuchtet: die Abläufe der systematischen Enteignungen in der NS-Zeit und die aktuelle Problematik im Zusammenhang mit Provenienzforschung und Restitution." [arte.tv/de]
