Socialism on Film
Content:
Film account of the rise of Nazism in Germany and the Sudetenland. [WARNING: includes scenes of dead bodies.]
Content:
The film takes news pieces and documentary footage filmed by the Nazis and plays the imagined thoughts of contemporary Germans. A second narrative voice occasionally cuts in with an alternative interpretation of events. In this way, the documentary demonstrates how threatening the rise of Nazism and its ability to alter people's thinking actually was. Nazi speeches, youth leagues and propaganda take precedence in the film. The film ends by playing Nazi predictions of how Germans would win the war over images of the dead, of bombed out towns, and of ruined tanks. There is footage of German youth, now disabled and disfigured
