Die Arbeit untersucht die Wiederherstellung der privaten deutschen Kreditwürdigkeit nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg anhand eines Konstitutionsprozesses von Vertrauen im Zuge der Londoner Schuldenkonferenz. Im Mittelpunkt steht die These, dass die Bedeutung der deutschen Auslandsschuldenregelung nicht auf quantifizierbare Ergebnisse reduziert werden kann, sondern vielmehr in einer Überführung von in komplexen Interaktionsprozessen aufgebautem Vertrauen in Institutionen und damit kalkulierbares Risiko liegt. Zur Untersuchung dieser These zeichne ich entlang der Regelung der Auslandsschulden des Rheinisch-Westfälischen Elektrizitätswerks (RWE), der Vereinigten Stahlwerke (VSt) und der Allgemeinen Electrizitäts-Gesellschaft (AEG) die vielschichtigen Verhandlungen zwischen den deutschen Schuldnern und den ausländischen Gläubigern vor dem Hintergrund der Entwicklung insbesondere der deutsch-amerikanischen Finanzbeziehungen nach und präsentiere ein Model zur Beobachtung der Genese von Vertrauen.
