Sophocles' masterwork, the epitome of Ancient Greek tragedy, continues to surprise and move us across the centuries in librettist Hugo von Hofmannsthal's stirring adaptation, directed here by a legend of the theatre. Stage director Krzysztof Warlikowski breathes new life into the myth of Elektra, daughter of Mycenaean king Agamemnon, assassinated after the Trojan Wars by his wife Klytaemnestra and her lover Aegisth. The heroine will stop at nothing to protect her banished younger brother Orest, seen as a threat to the throne, and avenge her father's death...
