Joaquín Achúcarro in an evocative recital of Spanish-inspired music at Madrid's Teatro Real in 2010, with works by Albéniz, Debussy, Granados, Ravel, de Falla, and Scriabin. Joaquin Achùcarro's career began in May 1959 when he won first prize in the Liverpool International Competition. Ever since, the pianist has worked nonstop, winning multiple prizes, completing multiple recordings, and cultivating a flourishing international career. He is particularly well-known for his interpretations of Brahms, Rachmaninov, and Ravel. In 1996, Spain's King Juan Carlos awarded him the Gold Medal in Fine Arts, and in 2000 UNESCO named him "Artist for Peace" in recognition of "extraordinary artistic achievement". In 2013 he won the Spanish award El Ojo Critico in celebration of his distinguished career
