Im Rahmen der Arbeiten des Ausschusses für Innenraumrichtwerte (AIR) wurde das Geruchsleitwert-Konzept entwickelt. Um die wissenschaftliche Grundlage für dieses Konzept zu stärken, wurden im Projekt "Bestimmung von Geruchswahrnehmungsschwellen für Innenraumschadstoffe" die Geruchswahrnehmungsschwellen, Intensitäten und die hedonischen Empfindung 20 typischer Innenraumschadstoffe ermittelt. Die Ermittlung der Geruchswahrnehmungsschwellen wurde gemäß der DIN EN 13725 und die Bestimmung der Intensitäten mit den daraus resultierenden Weber-Fechner-Koeffizienten entsprechend VDI 3882-1 durchgeführt. Mithilfe von Polaritätenprofilen wurde nach VDI 3940-4 die hedonische Wirkung dieser 20 Einzelsubstanzen und deren Ähnlichkeit oder Unähnlichkeit zu den Konzepten „Duft“ und „Gestank“ ermittelt.

The odour conductance concept was developed as part of the work of the German Committee on Indoor Guide Values. In order to support the scientific bases of this concept, the project "Determination of Odour Perception Thresholds for Indoor Pollutants" investigated the odour perception thresholds, intensities and hedonic odour tone of 20 typical indoor pollutants. The determination of the odour detection thresholds was conducted according to DIN EN 13725 and the determination of the intensities and the resulting Weber-Fechner coefficients was carried out according to the VDI 3882-1. Using polarity profiles, the hedonic odour tone of these 20 individual substances and their similarities or dissimilarities to the concepts "fragrance" and "stench" were determined according to VDI 3940-4.
