The article looks at the outcome of the November 1988 elections and focusses on the nature of the religious parties - who are - wrongly - forecast to get government positions which would allow them to influence social life in Israel profoundly. As is argued, evident in the election outcome is a future divide over a secular or religious Jewish state. (DÜI-Asd)
