The Roland Collection 590
Content:
This film is a rare document from the period when, in both Europe and America, Abstraction in various forms was becoming dominant, and Victor Vasarely was pioneering 'Op Art.' The film was made at the time of one of the artist's early exhibitions at the progressive Denise René Gallery in Paris - René herself makes a fleeting appearance in Op Art couture. With a soundtrack of contemporary music, and without narration, the film-maker has sought to create a vibrant composition of rhythms and contrasts in the spirit of Vasarely. (Roland Collection)
