Der Schlieffenplan galt jahrzehntelang als Grundlage der deutschen Aufmarschplanungen im Vorfeld des Ersten Weltkrieges. Diese Auffassung wird inzwischen kontrovers diskutiert. Vor diesem Hintergrund untersuchen Historiker aus dem Inland und Ausland die operativen und strategischen Planungen des Deutschen Kaiserreichs und seiner späteren Gegner im Ersten Weltkrieg sowie den Rahmen, in dem diese Planungen erfolgten: das Verhältnis von Militär und Politik. Es werden die deutschen Aufmarschpläne von 1893/94 bis 1914/15 veröffentlicht, in deren Zentrum Schlieffens berühmte Denkschrift von 1905 steht. Diese Sammlung von elf Beiträgen wird ergänzt durch einen umfangreichen Anhang mit Angaben zu den diversen Aufmärschen. (MOD)
