Leider wird auf die eigentliche Regierungszeit Ramses II. nur kurz eingegangen und auch über das Leben des Volkes und die ägyptische Geschichte i.A. erfährt man wenig. Andererseits hat die Konzentration auf eine Person Vorteile, die den Band aus der Fülle der Jugendsachbücher zu Ägypten herausheben. Deshalb und wegen des überzeugenden Textes und der gelungenen Illustration kann eine Anschaffung - gerade auch für Schulbüchereien - empfohlen werden.
