Content: What is feminist peace? How can we advocate for peace from patriarchy? What do women, globally, advocate for when they use the term 'peace'? This edited collection brings together conversations across borders and boundaries to explore plural, intersectional and interdisciplinary concepts of feminist peace. The book includes contributions from a geographically diverse range of scholars, judges, practitioners and activists, and the chapters cut across themes of movement building and resistance and explore the limits of institutionalized peacebuilding. The chapters deal with a range of issues, such as environmental degradation, militarization, online violence and arms spending. Offering a resource to advance theoretical development and to advocate for policy change, this book transcends traditional approaches to the study of peace and security and embraces diverse voices and perspectives which are absent in both academic and policy spaces.
Note: Beyond boundaries , Feminist peace interrupted : a critical conversation on conflict, violence, and accountability , 'Peace' across spaces : discussing feminist (and) decolonial visions of peace , Unfinished activism : genealogies of women's movements and the re-imagining of feminist peace and resistance , Movement building for feminist peace , Feminist peace for digital movement building in Kenya and Ethiopia : reflections, lessons, hopes and dreams , No peace without security : shoring the gains of the #metoo movement , Feminists visioning genuine security and a culture of peace : international women's network against militarism , Institutional peacebuilding and feminist peace , Building and conceptualising feminist peace : feminist strategies and approaches , Perils of peacebuilding : gender-blindness, climate change and ceasefire capitalism in Colombia and Myanmar , Women, weapons and disarmament , Feminist peace in the academy , International law as a vehicle for peace : feminist engagements , Why aren't we talking to each other? : thinking gender, conflict and disaster as a continuum , Teaching feminist peace through encounters with female violence

Content: Introduction : art and development : a new framework for postwar art -- The semiperipheral art gallery : Gallery Maya, Istanbul -- Democratic abstractions : Bülent Ecevit on art and politics -- "The first coup in the Turkish art world" : the Developing Turkey competition of 1954 -- The artist as agent of development : Füreya Koral between Turkey and the United States, 1955-1958 -- Conclusion : building Istanbul modern : art and development in a twenty-first-century museum.
Content: "This vivid portrait of the art world in Turkey explores how a cohort of influential Turkish modernists built a new art world in Istanbul and Ankara after World War II. The entrepreneur and female gallerist Adalet Cimcoz, the art critic (and future prime minister) Bülent Ecevit, and artists like Aliye Berger, Füreya Koral, and Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu were focused on issues beyond aesthetics. On the canvas, in criticism, and in the gallery, these cultural pioneers also grappled with economic questions, attempting to transform their country from a 'developing nation' into a major player in the global markets of the postwar period. Elucidating for the first time landmark works of Turkish modernism, along with an innovative array of sources--from gossip columns to economic theory--Sarah-Neel Smith reveals the art world as a key site for the articulation of Turkish nationhood in the mid-twentieth century. This groundbreaking study offers economic development as a new framework for analyzing global modernisms of the twentieth century"--

Content: " When a baker meets the bookshop owner of her dreams, and he turns into her nemesis, they&rsquo,l both have to read between the lines to avoid a career-ending recipe for disaster. Max Boyson looks good...from a distance. But up close and personal, the tattooed hottie Joelle Prima has been crushing on for the past year and half has turned into the prime example of why you shouldn&rsquo, judge a book by his delectable cover. 160 When she first learned about the massive renovation to the building they share, Joelle imagined that temporarily combining her Filipino bakery with Max&rsquo, neighboring bookstore would be the perfect opening chapter to their happily ever after. In her fantasies they fed each other bibingka and pandesal while discussing Jane Austen and cooing over her pet hamster, Pumpkin. Reality, however...is quite different. Her gallant prince turned out to be a stubborn toad who snaps at her in front of customers, dries his wet clothes in her oven, and helps himself to the yummy pastries in her display case without asking. 160 But beneath Max&rsquo, grumpy glares, Joelle senses a rising heat&mdash,nd a softening heart. And when they discover the real reason for the renovation, they&rsquo,l have to put both their business senses and their feelings for each other to the test."
Content: Rezension(1): "〈a href=http://lj.libraryjournal.com/ target=blank〉〈img src=https://images.contentreserve.com/libraryjournal_logo.png alt=Library Journal border=0 /〉〈/a〉: July 1, 2022 Opposites do attract in this contemporary romance. Joelle Prima is the stereotypical shy, hardworking girl next door and owner of Lanie's bakery. She can never take a day off and has succeeded because of her work ethic and the support of her extended family. Joelle's specialties include ube lattes, Filipino baked goods, and secretly salivating over Max Boyson, the tattooed owner of the bookstore next door. Max, the Insta-handsome, moody bookworm has also noticed Joelle but knows that the family-oriented sweetheart could never understand his background. When Joelle and Max are forced to share space due to building renovations, they soon discover how deep their attraction and differences run. The dual narrative propels the story, and readers get a chance to experience some turmoil before being rewarded with a happily ever after. VERDICT Smith ( On Location ) provides characters with well-developed family backstories, albeit with a main character who's a little too good to be true. --Nicole J. SuarezCopyright 2022 Library Journal, LLC Used with permission. " Rezension(2): "〈a href=http://www.publishersweekly.com target=blank〉〈img src=https://images.contentreserve.com/pw_logo.png alt=Publisher's Weekly border=0 /〉〈/a〉: July 18, 2022 Smith’s cute but flawed latest (after On Location ) takes the grumpy/sunshine trope a bit too far, pairing a refreshing heroine with an over-the-top hero who is saved from being entirely boorish by his adorable rescue animals. Joelle Prima gave up culinary school to support her family, but she’s finally living her dream: baking delectable French and Filipino pastries in her own Portland, Ore., bakery. Her regulars include Max Boyson, the dreamy owner of the bookstore with which Joelle’s bakery shares a building. The pair exchange some flirtatious smiles and one incandescently hot near hookup when she delivers him some treats—but Max backs off both emotionally and physically when their businesses are unexpectedly asked to share a much smaller space as the building undergoes renovation. Each is underfoot as they work to save their stores, but Max drying his clothes in Joelle’s oven and eating her inventory without asking strains credulity and diminishes his appeal. Over time, Joelle and Max peel back each other’s layers to discover what makes the other tick, and Smith eventually develops Max into the lovable guy Joelle deserves. Despite some hiccups here, Smith’s fans will find plenty to enjoy. Agent: Sarah Younger, Nancy Yost Literary. "

- Ab 10.
