Klischee, Klitterei, Geschichtchen ohne Geschichte - so die schärfsten Vorwürfe in der öffentlichen Debatte um den Historienfilm „Rosenstraße“. Er erzählt die Geschichte des Protestes nichtjüdischer Berliner Frauen gegen die tagelange Inhaftierung und befürchtete Deportation ihrer jüdischen Ehemänner durch Gestapo und SS im Frühjahr 1943. Ein Film im Kreuzfeuer eines Historikerstreites: Die Deportation der jüdischen Ehepartner sei geplant gewesen, erst der weibliche Protest habe zur Freilassung der Mehrzahl der rund 1.500 bis 2.000 Inhaftierten geführt - so die einen (Nathan Stoltzfus, Gernot Jochheim). Die Inhaftierung habe ‚nur’ der Auswahl von Ersatzkräften für zu deportierende „Volljuden“ gedient, die folgende Freilassung der „Mischehen-Partner“ sei bereits beschlossen gewesen - so die anderen (Wolf Gruner, Wolfgang Benz).
