Gesundheitsrisiko Schimmelpilze im Innenraum: das derzeit gesicherte Wissen - Beim Thema "Gesundheitsgefahren durch Schimmelpilze" werden Verbraucher immer wieder durch reißerische Presseberichte oder irreführende Informationen im Internet verunsichert. Täglich gehen bei Gesundheitsämtern und Verbraucherzentralen zahlreiche Anfragen zum Thema Schimmelpilzbefall in der Wohnung oder am Arbeitsplatz ein. Menschen, die unter gesundheitlichen Problemen leiden, die nach ihrer Vermutung auf einen Schimmelpilzschaden zurückzuführen sind, haben häufig geradezu eine Odyssee hinter sich, bevor sie an einen Arzt gelangen, der ihnen helfen kann. - Die Gesundheitsgefährdung durch Schimmelpilze wird auch unter Medizinern kontrovers diskutiert. Die Gründe dafür sind vielfältig: die Zusammenhänge zwischen dem Auftreten von Schimmelpilzen und möglichen gesundheitlichen Auswirkungen sind sehr komplex. Schimmelpilze können unterschiedliche gesundheitliche Wirkungen haben. Es gibt keine Grenzwerte für gesundheitlich unbedenkliche Konzentrationen. Das gesundheitliche Risiko, das von Feuchteschäden ausgeht, ist sehr stark von der Disposition des Betroffenen abhängig. Die diagnostischen Methoden sind bisher unzureichend. Es gibt deshalb bisher auch keine abgestimmte Lehrmeinung zu diesem Thema. - Die Gesellschaft für Hygiene, Umweltmedizin und Präventivmedizin (GHUP) hat sich die Aufgabe gestellt, die Diskussion bezüglich der Beurteilung der von Schimmelpilzen ausgehenden gesundheitlichen Risiken zu versachlichen. Deshalb werden im Rahmen der GHUP-Jahrestagungen alljährlich in Workshops die verschiedensten Risikobereiche wissenschaftlich aufbereitet, und es wird versucht, die häufigsten auftretenden Fragen zu beantworten. Die Ergebnisse dieser Workshops sind im vorliegenden Buch "Gesundheitsrisiko Schimmelpilze im Innenraum" nachzulesen. - Ziel des Buches ist es, den aktuellen Stand des Wissens zur Risikobewertung möglicher gesundheitlicher Wirkungen von Schimmelpilzexpositionen im Innenraum darzustellen. Die wesentlichen Risiken betreffen: Infektionen, Allergien, toxische Reaktionen, Geruchswirkungen und Befindlichkeitsstörungen. Jeder dieser vier Themenbereiche schließt mit einer Sammlung und Beantwortung häufig gestellter Fragen aus der Wissenschaft und vor allem aus der alltäglichen Praxis ab. - Gesundheitsämter, Verbraucherzentralen, Hygieneinstitute, Umwelt- und Arbeitsmediziner, Ärzte anderer medizinischer Fachrichtungen, Baubiologen, Bausachverständige, Handwerker, Juristen und Versicherungen: sie alle erwarten eine eindeutige Positionierung des Gesundheitswesens bei der Schimmelpilzproblematik. Für alle Institutionen und Fachleute, die mit Schimmelpilzexpositionen in Innenräumen zu tun haben, sind die in diesem Buch zusammengefassten Auswertungen eine wichtige Grundlage für eine differenzierte Beurteilung von möglichen gesundheitlichen Problemen.
