Eingeführte Reihe. Man fragt sich unversehens schon, welcher Kalte Krieg hier wohl gemeint sein könnte: einer der jetzigen oder doch der berühmt-ehemalige? Emmerich lässt nochmals den vergangenen Revue passieren, und zwar mit der ideologischen Vorgeschichte und Zuspitzung ab 1917 (Russische Oktoberrevolution). In rund 40 kompakt-kurzen Kapiteln skizziert er signifikante Vorgänge, Hintergründe, Konflikte wie Personen (Stalin, Mao, Gorbatschow u.a.), immer bemerkenswert prägnant und urteilsmutig. Trefflich annotierte Fotos wie bestens aufbereitete Karten sorgen zusätzlich für klare Orientierung und Anschauung. Wo immer kleinere Übersichten vor vertiefenden Darstellungen (etwa von J.L. Gaddis oder B. Stöver: beide BA 5/07) sinnvoll erscheinen, kann Emmerichs auch typografisch anziehend gestalteter Titel (mit Register und Literaturnachweisen) sehr breit (auch für Schüler) empfohlen werden.
