Klappentext: Diese Arbeit widmet sich der rechtsvergleichenden Untersuchung des Schutzes von Habitaten, also den Lebensräumen bedrohter Arten, in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland und dem Vereinigten Königreich von Großbritannien und Nordirland. Gegenstand des Vergleichs sind dabei insbesondere die Fauna-Flora-Habitat-Richtlinie und die Vogelschutz-Richtlinie, die von der EU erlassen wurden. Die Untersuchung geht dabei von vier Fragen aus: In welchem der beiden Mitgliedstaaten sind die rechtlichen Regeln besser geeignet, den Zielen der FFH- und der Vogelschutz-RL gerecht zu werden? Welcher Handlungsbedarf besteht für die nationalen Gesetzgeber? Was sind die Spielräume der nationalen Gesetzgeber und nationalen Gerichte bei der Umsetzung von FFH- und Vogelschutz-RL? Welcher Handlungsbedarf besteht für den Gemeinschaftsgesetzgeber und die Kommission?
