TON-E Carl Reinecke war als Gewandhauskapellmeister (1860-1895) und als Professor am von Mendelssohn gegründeten Konservatorium eine der einflussreichsten Persönlichkeiten in der Leipziger Musikgeschichte. Wenn man sich die Liste seiner Schüler von Grieg über Bruch bis zu Janáček und Sullivan anschaut, die das Leipziger Vokalensemble amarcord für seine „Meisterklasse“ zusammengestellt hat, liegt auf der Hand, dass die zweite Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts hier eine ausgesprochen fruchtbare Periode gewesen sein muss. Reinecke selbst hat um die 70 Einzelwerke für Männerstimmen geschrieben, einige davon bilden den Rahmen der vorliegenden Aufnahme. Hinter dem Erfolg von amarcord steckt die Neugier auf Musik jeder Art und Couleur; auf deren Geschichte, Werke, Tradition und Einzigartigkeit. amarcord ist als Ensemble so variabel wie wohl kaum ein anderes. Wolfram Lattke, Robert Pohlers, Frank Ozimek, Daniel Knauft und Holger Krause geben mittelalterlichen Gesängen, Renaissance-Madrigalen oder Stücken der Romantik eine Stimme in der Gegenwart.
