Content: The Garo live in the East and West Garo Hills District of the state of Meghalaya in India. The Garo is a major aboriginal group of this region of India and is divided into nine subtribes: Awe, Chisak, Matchi-Dual, Matabeng, Ambeng, Ruga-Chibox, Gara-Ganching, Atong, and the Megam. This file includes 33 documents that cover the period from the end of the 18th century up to 1990.
